Jet Set and GO! Mastering the Art of Travel Planning.

Welcome aboard, fellow travel enthusiasts! Buckle up and get ready for a wild ride as we delve into the wonderful world of travel planning. From the highs of wanderlust-fueled excitement to the lows of lost luggage nightmares, join me as we navigate the rollercoaster of emotions that come with planning your next great adventure.

The Initial Spark: It all begins with a spark – that sudden urge to explore new horizons, taste exotic cuisines, and soak up different cultures. You find yourself lost in wanderlust, scrolling through Instagram feeds filled with stunning landscapes and envy-inducing travel photos. And just like that, you're hooked. The travel bug has bitten, and there's no turning back.

The Research Rabbit Hole: With a destination in mind (or maybe not, let's be real – sometimes it's a toss-up between Bali or Bora Bora), you dive headfirst into the deep, dark depths of travel research. TripAdvisor reviews, travel blogs, YouTube vlogs – you consume them all in a quest for the perfect itinerary. Hours turn into days as you meticulously plan every minute detail, from sunrise hikes to sunset cocktails.

But do we actually need to plan every last minute of the destination? After years of travelling, sometimes back to the same destinations I often wonder if the top 10 of that destination is worth it, or perhaps allowing each day to plan itself. Im not saying dont have an idea, but is your holiday a failure if you didnt see those top10? I think alot of travellers have FOMO (fear of missing out - for the boomers) so we plan evey detail, only to arrive and perhaps want to relax that day instead of hike 10km, or keep chatting to the local you met instead of heading to a museum. My advice is to leave a couple of unstrutred days.

The Budget Battle: Ah, the dreaded budget battle. As you tally up flight costs, accommodation expenses, and activity fees, you find yourself teetering on the edge of financial sanity. Do you splurge on that luxury hotel or opt for budget-friendly hostels? Can you afford that once-in-a-lifetime helicopter tour over the Grand Canyon, or should you stick to ground-level sightseeing? Decisions, decisions.

Come up with what you may want to spend. I try to spend as little as possible on flights and accommodation as I personally prefer to keep that part of the budget on doing something extra, such as a cooking class or bungee jumping, something out of my comfort zone but to those who don't have those budget contraints, do you need a buddy to join you?

The Packing Puzzle: Now comes the ultimate test of patience – the packing puzzle. Do you really need three pairs of shoes for a weekend trip? Will you actually wear that sequined dress in the mountains? And where did you put your passport again? As you wrestle with suitcase zippers and debate the necessity of a tenth pair of socks, you can't help but wonder if packing light is just a myth perpetuated by seasoned travelers.

Packing, you never use everything you pack and often wish you didnt pack as much. This is definetley a blog post on its own.

The Pre-Flight Panic: As the departure date looms closer, a wave of pre-flight panic sets in. Did you remember to double-check your flight details? Is your passport safely tucked away in your carry-on? And why does TSA seem to have it out for your favorite shampoo bottle? Take a deep breath, dear traveler – you've got this.

Remember under 100mls bottles for carry on. It cant be a 200ml bottle with 50mls of liquid, the bottle itself needs to be under 100mls. Dont forget you can pick up stuff in any destination you go to, so if you forget, it doesnt matter, you can replace it.

The Wanderlust High: And finally, as you settle into your airplane seat or hit the open road, a sense of euphoria washes over you. The stress of planning is behind you, replaced by the thrill of new adventures and unforgettable experiences. You're a traveler, a wanderer, a seeker of the unknown. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride – because the journey has only just begun.

So there you have it, fellow adventurers – the rollercoaster of emotions that comes with travel planning. From the initial spark of wanderlust to the wanderlust high of setting off on your journey, each step of the planning process is a unique adventure in itself. So embrace the chaos, roll with the punches, and remember that the best travel stories often come from the unplanned detours.
